Because it’s midnight here.

My supervisor is Chewy. He sits between me and the laptop, sometimes staring at me, sometimes staring at the screen, sometimes staring at something shiny nearby. He has only walked across the keyboard once in protest of my lack of attention. As cat peeps will say, the cat chooses you. I discovered that I seem to be a many sorts of animals person.

Animals tend to greet me wherever I go. I was once referred to as having a type of Disney princess syndrome…the one where you can “tralala” through a forest or down the street and animals appear out of nowhere to join you on your happy little journey. Their comment resonated deeply with me. I have had visits with all kinds of animals besides cats and dogs, including squirrels, birds, raccoons, cayote, foxes, deer, and wolves. These encounters are part of my normal every day life.

Occasionally I will photograph my animal greetings, but most of the time I simply enjoy the interaction.

Even at the zoo, they follow me.
