Grade III spondylolisthesis at L4-L5

Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my healing journey.

Please refrain from asking about how I sustained my spinal injuries. This story is personal and not for public consumption. If you know, then you know.

My spine is falling apart. I have had two spinal reconstruction surgeries. I now have three breaks (spondylolisthesis) in my spine, or as my physical therapist said, I decapitated my scottie dogs. As an animal person who grew up in a pack of dogs, this imagery still haunts me. Now it can haunt you too. My spondys are at grade I and grade III-IV. Grade V is when the spine completely falls apart. That day scares me, but I do my best to stay strong and active. Some days I can walk great, and some days I need a cane or walker to move around. I depend upon muscle memory and faith to walk on the days that my legs will work for me. The bad days are tough. About 50% of my days, my legs won’t work. I cannot feel them, and they don’t respond when my brain tells them to move. My stubborn nature still tries, but I often end up in a heap on the floor during my bad days.

I need a wheelchair for the days that my legs won’t work. A wheelchair would give me greater independence and help me remain active. Because health insurance can not help me, I must fund my own medical supplies and appointments.

I am selling photography, paintings, and custom print-on-demand gifts to raise the money that I need. My goal is to raise $1500 for a walker and wheelchair by the end of 2025.
